Clifford D Way '54. AI class of 58 seems the nearest active SU,DU in the area with interest. My class of 54 seems gone or I haven't heard from most of them and other close classes. Being in Dallas, Texas with my kids having attended Texas Tech and Georgia Tech I haven't been back to Syracuse since 2000 for my 50th. Syracuse Football in recent years has frankly been not to good. I have eight grandkids, six our college grads four from Texas Tech, one from Old Miss. one from Baylor, one from Texas. Have one senior at Tech and last one senior in High school in Texas. So my interest in Syracuse hasn't been high from Football. Most of the games I go to are associated with those schools. I wish you well in getting DU back on the Hill. I am hoping to get back maybe one more time before I can't get around any more. Thanks for keeping me in the loop. Contact cliffway32@tx.rr.com | Summer 2016
Larry Isaacson ’55. Retired from the Federal Highway Administration, US Dept. of Transportation in 1990. 26 years Wow! Still living on a farm in Middletown, MD. Summers spent on Lake Blaisdell in central New Hampshire, about five miles from my wife Nancy's home place in Bradford, NH. My working years, after the Air Force (57-59) included The National Park Service and Federal Highway Administration as a Landscape Architect and Environmental Program Manager. Spent a lot of time involved with the Highway Beautification Act in the 50's. Major activities now-a-days include shotgun shooting (skeet, trap, sporting clays, etch.) reloading ammo in the warm months and am still downhill skiing in the winter, when the weather cooperates. Think I have skied at approx. 145 areas before losing count. A little deer hunting in Nov-Dec at son Steve's farm on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
Have kept in semi-contact with Curt Hill in Philadelphia and follow Jim Strates items on Facebook. Went to an evening meeting in Washington, D.C. last year to be briefed on the re-colonization effort. I donated a copper plaque of the DU Coat of Arms that my mother had made for me in 1954 thinking the Committee might find a use for it in activities at the Chapter (see below). Saddened to hear of the passing of Bruce MacGregor last year. Contact: wifarm@comcast.net; 301-371-6036 (MD), 603-938-5216 (NH). | Summer 2016

The copper coat of arms (left) was handcrafted by Larry Isaacson's mother Harriet P. Isaacson of Rochester, New York in 1954 as a Christmas present (backside note to Larry on right). Larry donated the coat of arms to the Recolonization Committee in Washington, DC in April 2015. Larry's wish is that the coat of arms be presented to the first chapter president of the newly recolonized Syracuse Chapter and maintained by each Delta Upsilon President thereafter.

Gregory “Duke” Doan ’69. I was at Syracuse from 1965 to 1969 and those years and my DU years were some of the best times of my life……Link, JR, Chico, Benjie, Randy, Teddy, Jeffrey, Hicker, Engel and many others (you know who are) contributed to some great times and DU memories, especially DU Weekend (Lake George and the Poconos)….after SU, I was a banker at RI Hospital Trust in Providence and left in 1979 as a Vice President in charge of the Corporate Real Estate Department which was a commercial real estate lending function….left at the end of 1979 just before the Bank of Boston buyout and returned to Auburn, NY (my hometown) and have had my own real estate appraisal office for the last 36 years……bought my parents’ house on Owasco Lake and Linda and I have completely renovated it over the years while playing golf at Owasco Country Club, which is next door….was on DU Board for a couple of years after I returned……..always hurt to go to campus and see 426 Ostrom without the DU name on it…..need to keep working for sanity purposes and to pay off kid's educations….many brothers will remember my son Greg who has now been with Nike for 26 years (SU grad and Director of New Product Development - Footwear Division at Nike)……my Nike employee discount gets significant use…..my daughter Elizabeth (Boston College) teaches high school math at Skaneateles High School….my daughter Lindsay (Loyola MD grad) lives in Baltimore and is CFO of a private equity firm (Greenspring Associates) in Baltimore……both girls are married and I now have four grandchildren (Jack is 5 and his sister Makenna is 20 months and live in Auburn……Duke (real first name) is 2 and Reed is 6 months and live in Baltimore)…….Baltimore trips when Lindsay was in school led to reunions with Snake (Dick George), Straksie (Gus Strakes) and JR (John Nelson)…..the amazing thing is that it's almost like we pick up conversations from 40 years ago without skipping a beat…..love to hear from and see any DU's that are in the area…..Gary Janis and Dick Scolaro (Dick recently passed away) are DU's that live in Auburn…..many DU's will also remember Gerry Gagliardi (Psi U) who I have kept in contact with and he lives in CT, but has a farm in Cazenovia which I have a hard time reconciling Gerry and farm……that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Bill Oakley ’67. Comeback Task Force - thank you for this invitation to bring Brothers up to date on our lives. I was at Syracuse and DU from '63 to '67. I then joined Encyclopedia Britannica as a salesperson until I could find a good job. I stayed for 29 years and was vice-president of sales when we shut the doors in 1997. I then tried unsuccessfully to re-invent myself at 51 for the next 3 years. I failed miserably and went through most of my assets. Then I saw a gentleman give a senior financial seminar. I said to myself "I can do that". But, I had no money left, and no knowledge of financial services. But I knew how to develop relationships, I had a very patient and understanding wife, and an American Express Card. I put my first seminar on my Amex card, having no idea how I would pay the bill when it came. Well, things worked out. That was 16 years ago. I'm now semi-retired. My son (36) now does all the seminars, brings in the new business, and I just take care of my clients. | I met my wife of 46 years, Elaine, in 1970. Our son, Bill Jr. was born in 1979. Britannica took me from Syracuse to Buffalo, to Akron, Ohio, to Pittsburgh, Miami, and Chicago. My son then got a scholarship to play baseball at the University of Central Florida. We followed him here and live in Lake Mary (just north of Orlando). I have one grandson, Easton, and they live 25 minutes from us. | I was best man for my roommates, Larry Schlegel and John Clapp, and we still keep in touch. In fact, John and his wife, Cathy, will be spending four days with us in Kennebunkport, Maine this July.
